ITINERARY

Day 1: Sotira Waterfalls – A Journey Through Nature

Our journey begins early in the morning in Tirana. At 6:00 AM, we depart for Gramsh, passing by Banja Lake, where we stop for a short coffee break and take in the serene landscape. Around 8:00 AM, we arrive in Gramsh and check in at our hotel.

At 9:00 AM, we head toward Sotira Village, using 4x4 vehicles or local minibuses. The scenic drive takes about 1.5 hours, winding through lavender fields and crossing the Devoll River.

From the village, we start a 5 km hike to the Sotira Waterfalls. The trail is mostly flat and takes about an hour. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by the thunderous roar of water and a refreshing mist. The best time to visit is between March and July, although August is still a good option.

Lunch is enjoyed near the waterfalls at a traditional local restaurant, offering homemade Albanian dishes. After a relaxing afternoon in nature, we return to Gramsh, where cozy and affordable hotels await.

Day 2: Valamara Mountain & Grabova e Sipërme

Day two starts early, at 6:00 AM, with a traditional Albanian breakfast — often featuring burek — before we depart for Grabova e Sipërme, a picturesque stone village two hours away by local transport.

Our main adventure is a challenging but rewarding 7–8 hour hike to Valamara Mountain, climbing over 1100 meters in elevation. The trail takes us through pine forests, alpine meadows, and natural springs. At the summit (2373 m), we enjoy panoramic views of Tomorr Mountain, Ohrid Lake, Ostrovica Peak, and up to 13 glacial lakes scattered across the highlands.

After the descent, we explore Grabova, a village rich in history and charm. Highlights include a 700-year-old Orthodox church, a Roman-style stone bridge, and the unique Derstila — an ancient washing system similar to a modern dishwasher, showcasing local ingenuity.

We return from the mountain to eat dinner at BioFarm Gramsh which is a great agroturism with its own food.

Day 3: Holta Canyon – Thermal Waters & Wild Beauty

Our final day is dedicated to Holta Canyon, located just 18 km from Gramsh. This natural wonder can be visited from March to November, thanks to thermal springs that warm the canyon's river — keeping the water pleasant for walking and wading even in early spring.

The canyon trail offers jaw-dropping rock formations, turquoise waters, and narrow paths that make it a favorite among photographers and nature lovers. The water depth rarely exceeds 1 meter, but sandals or water shoes are highly recommended.

Two nearby restaurants offer tasty local meals before we begin our return to Tirana, full of unforgettable memories and experiences.
